My name is Jean Herby NOEL

I’m Jean Herby Noel, a Haitian visual artist and writer. My work explores the beauty, contradictions, and mysteries of my homeland. I draw from the rhythms of my people, strong and vulnerable, whose stories pulse through every stroke I paint.

My dreams, visions, and revelations live on my canvas.
No apologies. No remorse. I do what must be done.
I express what I feel, what I hear, what I understand, and what I don’t.
I delve deep into the truth, but sometimes I choose to stay on the surface.
I know my limits. I guard my gates.

Being an artist is more than just expression; it’s a responsibility, and I understood that early on.
Where I’m from, mystery and reality walk the same streets.
Faith and superstition guide us. Logic and reason are often lost in the hills and villages.

Born in Carrefour, Haiti, I was raised in a world of bold colors, sacred textures, and ancestral voices.
Art, for me, is not just self-expression; it’s a duty to preserve memory, reflect resilience, and translate the soul of a people.

“Living is a responsibility. Expression is a need. Art is life.”

Jean Herby Noel
